Kitaya Distillery (JPN) Yame 8 Goddess 10 yr Whisky

It’s not often that a sub-90 proof non-scotch #dram catches my attention, but that is exactly what this Yame 8 Goddesses 10yr Whisky from #KitayaDistillery 🇯🇵 has done! Read below for tasting notes ⤵️

👃: Vanilla, Apple, Caramel, Honey Suckle, Coffee Grains, Oak

👅: Vanilla Extract, Burnt Caramel, Cherry Jolly Rancher, Oak (Very Bourbon-Like)

🏁: Very short, almost abrupt. Some cinnamon spice and dry sweetness.

This is most likely the perfect pour to introduce bourbon drinkers to the wonderful world of Japanese Whisky. While not incredibly complex, it definitely has more flavor than most 80-90 proof offerings, shares a lot of similar characteristics with bourbon and it is a bottle I always want to have on the shelf at less than $60.
