Angel’s Envy Cask Strength 2017

For this week’s #tuesdaytastings and in support of the #toastthetrees campaign, we explore the 2017 limited release cask strength bourbon from @angelsenvy! Tasting notes below⤵️

👃: The nose is quite complex and opens nicely after sitting in the glass for 5-10 minutes. Notes of caramel, vanilla, candy apple, Earl Grey tea, cowhide, and corn are prevalent throughout.

👅: On the first sip, this full-bodied #irondram brings a sharp heat, brimming with white peppercorn and cinnamon before pleasantly transitioning into port cask-influenced notes of decadent dark cherries, candied plum, orange zest and cocoa.

🏁: This is a bourbon that will stick with you a while, as the finish is long and warming. Walnut, leather and some oak tannins are left lingering on the tongue.

With an MSRP of $200, this may be a very tough “pill” to swallow for many. Especially when you consider the youthful nature of the product. However, this bourbon’s uniqueness and straight forward complexity bring plenty of value to the table. Those who favor a sweeter and complex, cask-strength whiskey will not be left disappointed by this expression.
