Bhakta 50: Barrel 4 “The Galahad Blend” (Armagnac)
Bhakta 50 - Barrel 4: The Galahad Blend
This 4th and yet-to-be-released blend from @bhaktabrandy is certainly their most precious yet. This 100% Armagnac blend includes vintages from 1868, 1904, 1933, 1947, 1951, 1964 and 1970!
First-pour tasting notes below:
👃: Dark fruits, fig, apricot, plum, luxardo cherries, hint of smoke, highland scotch funk.
•
👅: Rich sweetness & saltiness up front, bacon wrapped dates, honey, roasted walnuts, campfire smoke.
•
🏁: Medium to long finish and the time in islay scotch casks is very apparent. Oyster brine, leather, sea salt, smoke on the backend.
This is one of the most amazingly complex drams I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting. When I think of what the world was going through while these barrels were laying in wait to be perfectly blended it sends chills down my spine!
When they say it’s designed for a whiskey-lover, they have absolutely nailed it on the head.
Admittedly, it’s not cheap. And, if you don’t appreciate a good Islay scotch this may not be for you (though, I implore you to try it!). But, considering the history inside of this bottle and the exquisite nature of the pour, it’s certainly worth it.
@rajpeterbhakta has created something truly special and I look forward to future releases! Cheers!
